Google may not read your tour descriptions.
Embedding Bókun’s widgets “relies on iFrames”. Its help says that in the product page widget, “the text description is in an iframe, which means that the text is not found by search engines”.1
For Bókun tour companies
Bókun keeps your availability and staff tools. We build the tour pages, the calendar and the booking around it, on your own domain, so your tour text is text on your page.
You see your new homepage before you pay for anything.
The usual trouble
Embedding Bókun’s widgets “relies on iFrames”. Its help says that in the product page widget, “the text description is in an iframe, which means that the text is not found by search engines”.1
You can change colours and fonts with custom CSS. Bókun’s own help warns that doing this “can break your booking process”, and recommends you test your changes thoroughly.2
The fee per booking is 1.5% on the START plan, 1.25% on PLUS and 1% on PREMIUM.3 Bookings made through the API carry a 1.5% booking fee as well.4
The teardown
Bókun’s help says its widgets rely on iframes added to your site. Steps 1 and 4 happen every time. Step 2 is about the product page widget, step 3 only happens if you restyle a widget, and each one is marked with when.

We build your site on top of your Bókun, through its API. Guests book on your own domain, and your Bókun keeps running the back.

It shows your tour and takes the booking, and for some operators that is enough. The catch is the words: Bókun’s help says the text description sits in an iframe, “which means that the text is not found by search engines”.1 If you want people to find your tours on Google, the tour text belongs in your own page. The API lets us put it there.
Yes. The site is yours, so a page where the widget is enough can keep it, and the pages where you want more can use the API. Bókun’s help says its script is best placed in the page head, so the widgets and the checkout cart work across the whole site.1 We decide page by page on the call.
Yes. Your account, plan, availability and staff tools stay in Bókun. We build the website guests see and use.
No. Bókun applies a 1.5% booking fee to bookings made through the API.4 On the START plan, widget bookings carry the same 1.5%.3 How it adds up for your own plan and any Marketplace deals, we go through on the call.
No. As the account holder you create the API key and the booking channel yourself.4 Bókun says the keys give access to all your products and data, so they are not for anyone outside your company except your developers.4 Its terms allow you to share them with agents who build the application, under confidentiality.6 The terms also say Bókun may change or end the API at any time.6
There are three payments: a part up front, a part at launch, and a last part 90 days after launch that is due only if your website booked more than in the same 90 days last year. The numbers come on the call. You create the API key yourself, and we found no approval step on Bókun’s pages. Your site is live within thirty business days, as long as your Bókun account stays in good standing.
